Empress by Emicia: Vibrant Art Celebrating the Beauty and Heritage of Black Women
Empress by Emicia is an online art boutique founded by Brooklyn-based artist, educator, and community leader Emicia Yvette Parker. Launched in November 2022, the boutique offers a curated selection of fine art prints, stationery, stickers, and holiday decor, all designed to celebrate the beauty, history, and regality of Black women. Emicia’s collections, including the Healing Series, Picnic Vibes Series, Walking In Wisdom Series, and Literary Empress Series, are rich in color and symbolism, reflecting themes of identity, healing, and empowerment. Her work is deeply influenced by her Jamaican heritage and her experiences growing up in foster care, which fuel her commitment to creating art that resonates with and uplifts her community. Beyond her art, Emicia is dedicated to community engagement, having taught art therapy workshops in NYC public schools and community organizations since 2014. She is also a recipient of the 2024 NYC Boss Up grant, recognizing her entrepreneurial spirit and contribution to the arts.
Showcased collections, projects, and press professionally
Integrated the artist’s story into website copy and layout
Added features for bookings, inquiries, and future growth
Project Brief
Empress by Emicia needed a cohesive brand identity and a website for presenting Emicia’s artwork, collections, projects, and press. The project focused on connecting her artistic story with a professional digital portfolio and clear paths for inquiries and product discovery.
What We Built
Harris Digital developed a visual identity and messaging framework reflecting Emicia’s artistic values, with color, texture, and typography carried through the website and branded materials. We designed a mobile-responsive portfolio site organizing her collections, projects, and press.
Her personal narrative and artistic inspiration informed the site’s copy and layout. Calls to action supported booking and press inquiries and product discovery, while the site structure provided a foundation for future e-commerce, newsletter, and event content.
